'Date Night'

This original painting captures the lingering magic of a shared evening. A bottle of wine poured slowly, tokens of affection exchanged, a candle that burns out long before good conversation ends - this is the dream date, really. But more than that, it’s a portrait of presence; a reminder that romance can be found in small moments if you’re looking for it and can savour it when it’s found. It’s also a reminder (to me) of one of my early dates with my husband - I wrote him a note (like the one in this painting) titled ‘100 Things I Like About You’. If you’ve ever gladly given or received such a note, I hope you feel the joy of that feeling all over again when you look at this painting!
The colour palette of mauves, pinks and oranges feels grounded and warm, and also invites a sense of nostalgia into the home. A perfect match for that feeling of comfort you get in the presence of someone you love. This painting also has lots of lovely texture, which catches light in delightful ways during the day - I’m sure there’s a metaphor in there somewhere for romance, too.
