This original painting invites you into the mellow vibes of a later portion of the evening - perhaps you’re chatting with a friend after a shared dinner. Perhaps you’ve been out somewhere exciting and you’re debriefing at the table (with chocolate, naturally). In any case, you’re comfortable enough to take off your jewellery, someone’s poured a glass of something and someone else has sliced a lemon for cocktails but hasn’t actually got around to making them yet because they’re too busy chatting / hugging / crying. These scenes of tables are so evocative because they create little worlds - and each time you view the painting the world within it and the stories it tells could be slightly different.A rich, warm tonal palette evokes the warmth of relationships and their presence as a gift in our lives. Much like ‘Date Night’ before it, this scene reminds us to slow down, gather together at tables, and find beauty in our everyday moments.
